Teletext Transfers

Before Sky Sports News and the internet was actually a thing you had to rely on Teletext and the back pages of the tabloid newspapers to get the latest football news. Back in the old days, transfers seemed to happen lightening fast and you’d see the player holding up their new shirt with a scarf around their neck on the tabloid back pages or as a simple headline on Teletext. Unlike today, where you usually see weeks of speculation building up on social media before you finally see the new arrival confirmed in a press conference with the manager.

Saturday afternoons would also consist of listening to the live game on the radio and pressing 302 on Teletext on repeat, eagerly awaiting the pages to refresh with the updated scores. The halcyon days.
