Clough & Taylor

Brian Clough and Peter Taylor was a match made in heaven. The pair had a unique style and partnership in the dressing room which helped perform miracles out on the pitch.

Starting out at 4th Division Hartlepool United in 1965, the management pairing transformed Pools plight which prompted 2nd Division Derby County to appoint the duo. During the six year stay at the Baseball Ground, Clough and Taylor saw the Rams promoted to the First Division and become champions of the First Division for the first time in 88 years.

After a fall out with the Derby County board the pair we’re heading to the South Coast to manage 3rd Division Brighton & Hove Albion but it wasn’t long before Brian Clough was off to Elland Road to take over from Don Revie at Leeds United. This time, Cloughie went solo and he lasted just 44 days.

The dynamic pair we’re back together a year later when Clough and Taylor joined forces again at Nottingham Forest and the rest they say is history. In the seven years together at the City Ground, they won two European Cups, two League Cup’s and a league title.
