Just weeks after the dreadful scenes at the Hillsborough Stadium disaster, Liverpool would face Merseyside neighbours Everton in the 1989 FA Cup final. The game finished 3-2 to the Reds after extra time with a brace from Ian Rush and one from John Aldridge. Stuart McCall bagged both goals for the Toffees.
