Des Bremner

The Scotland international midfielder Des Bremner spent the vast majority of his career at Easter Road, Villa Park and at St Andrews. The defensive midfielder began his career at Hibernian where he made his debut in 1972, he went on to make 199 appearances for the Hibees scoring 18 goals in the process. In 1979, he caught the attention of Ron Saunders and a £275,000 transfer fee took him south to join Aston Villa. During his five years with the Villans, Bremner lifted several trophies including the European Cup, European Super Cup and First Division title amongst others. After 174 appearances and nine goals, the Holte End favourite followed his former manager Ron Saunders to join local rivals Birmingham City where he helped them to promotion in his first season.
