West Ham United clinched promotion to the Premier League on the final day of the 92/93 season when they beat Cambridge United 2-0 at Upton Park to pip Portsmouth to the runners-up spot behind champions Newcastle United. David Speedie and Clive Allen grabbed the important goals for the Hammers.
