During World Cup qualification for Mexico 1986, British rivals Wales and Scotland clashed at Ninian Park in the final group game with both teams needing points to qualify. Manchester United forward Mark Hughes put the Welsh one goal to the good after just 13 minutes before Rangers Davie Cooper equalised from the spot with 10 minutes remaining to send the Tartan Army back home happy after securing a play off spot against Australia. Sadly, Scotland manager Jock Stein passed away shortly after the final whistle.
